INTERIOR CARRIAGE. DAY.

CROSS

I– damn it. Well then. Help me

up. Help me up. I’ll tell you

what I know.

Celine helps him up.

CROSS

I warn you — you’ll call me a liar.

.

CELINE

So? I have time to pass.

She sits him down, still bound. He looks at the ropes. She shrugs.

CELINE

Speak.

.

CROSS

CROSS

CELINE

CROSS

locals, to see what we could find.

.

CELINE

And it was you, because you

speak French.

.

CROSS

Some French, yes. Also, I know

my way around open country, and

my wound was near-healed.

(beat)

Myself and a big lug called

Hardy were sent out towards the

French lines. We took care, of

course, checking the lie of the

land, keeping watch for scouts.

And we found something. There

had been a fight…
